For wood-alternative decking, based on sales data Jan-Oct 2019, measured in number of pieces (decking all lengths, plus fascia and riser), here’s what we found, starting with color groups.
Color STyle
Remember when they only had two colors? 20 years later, not only is there a proliferation of color, but also the many ways the colors are rendered on the boards.
TeXTURE
Educated consumers used to ask, “Does it fade and stain?” Now they ask, “Does it get hot?” and “Is it slippery?” And texture has a big impact on looks.
Price
2019 saw a major trend toward making low-maintenance decking more affordable, which we expect to continue to be strong.
